Una was born in Lanarkshire and raised on a farm near Strathaven. She started playing accordion at the age of eight and soon received recognition as an outstanding young musician, progressing to win many national and international competitions.

Her achievements earned her a place in the unit for 'gifted' musicians at Douglas Academy, Glasgow, where she studied clarinet, piano and accordion.

Thereafter, she had the distinction of being the first Scottish accordion student to be accepted for entry to the Royal Academy of Music London. It was here that she graduated with honours, excelling in performance. She went on to receive critical acclaim for virtuoso solo, chamber and orchestral performances with the Scottish National Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Chamber Group Of Scotland, Glasgow Festival Strings, the German Radio Symphony Orchestra and Edinburgh Festival Singers, playing in the Festivals at Edinburgh and Germany.

Una has been playing professionally for ten years and has established herself as an accordionist of world renown.
